What would you do with AN EXTRA 24 HOURS?
To reveal how different and similar we are, we invite you to become a part of the event and add your response to the wall.
When challenged with the brief of staging a happening, through conversation, Process and working as a group we developed the idea of posing a question and reacting to the responses within design context. This design context was framed by the questioin, 'what would you do with an extra 24 hours?'.
The answers were inspiring, suprising and thought provoking. They invoked subjects for debate such as politics, social issues, escapism, fantasy and reality. We believe that the responses offer a sense of commonality, demonstrating hopes, restraints and common wants for fredom from time or location. Ultimatley the escapism refered to in many of the responseshas guided our design process and final pieces.
As a team we bring many different disciplines and experiences, and have drawn on these to create pieces reflecting the responses.

Pieces
From these indiviual starting points [quotes] we have together discussed any ideas these provoked and related them to our specialist skills. Stephen's being Product Design, Sam's Knit/textiles and Helen's Fashion. The quotes we chose gave a direct translation into a product/piece. These pieces will be created to show at the exhibition on Monday 25th January between 7-10pm.
Ideas
From all the quotes collected we are individually selecting the ones that we feel are the most inspirational.
SAM:
"says she would would take twice as long to do all the things she would normally do. I would indulge myself with stuff I don’t normally get a chance too. Lay in, porn, listen to my guiltiest pleasures, watch Ali videos, do drugs I am normally too guilty to do…. smoke in the house, drive as fast as I could, that sort of thing, actually I might start now”
Ollie L
HELEN:
"give people really heavy shoes so they cant move very fast"
James McAll
STEPHEN:
" build a fort out of cushions and teach myself origami. "
